My Father - Lives Ever

Image
My father - My God My Father -  Lives  Ever He is short. He is stout. He is powerful. He is simple. He loves nice things of life. He adores his juniors. He often fights with high-ups for the sake of his protégées. He fights hierarchy; he gets transferred to ‘Agency Area’. He serves his department without prejudice. Most of his service has been in very backward regions.  Basically, he loves his birthplace, the Godavari Delta very much. He strives to get transferred to his native district all his working life. It never happens. But, he is never discouraged. He believes in the government sponsored education system so much that he admits me, his only son, a son he sired after an agonizingly long wait, in a newly conceived residential system of education ( a la gurukul), a model school, far away from home. By the time his son finishes the high school; he falls ill and becomes helpless. My father with his B.Ed Classmates He suffers from diabetes. The unde...

My Mother - An Epitome of Endurance

Image
My mother Smt. Veluvali. Bhramaramba passed away peacefully in her sleep in the early morning of 01-01-2010 at 0630 hours. She has been suffering for the last thirty years with arthritis. She has been on the bed since my father's death in 1976. All these years she guided us like a lighthouse. We were small children when father passed away. I was fifteen years old. I am the eldest of all the children and only son. I have three sisters. All are juniors to me. My father worked in Education Department in Andhra Pradesh. We moved from place to place as and when he was transferred. But when he started suffering from blindness due to long standing diabetic condition, he took a long leave and we began our life in Palakol, a nice place in West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh. That was in 1975. Within one year my father succumbed to his illness, leaving us behind.  My mother directed my fights, giving me much needed words of courage and understanding. We fought for my f...

Scenes from Kakileru

Image
Kakileru - My maternal grand parent's village Kakileru is a small village near Penugonda of West Godavari district in Andhra Pradesh. Here are some scenes shot in an early winter morning. Chill in the air. Smoky horizon looms around Distant coconut trees draped in mist Fog drifting away slowly It is time to wake up folks! Winged friends from far off places Cranes are about to start their day Sleepy road leading to Kakileru Solitary trees appear to be shivering Lone flower blooms as if to welcome another day Water ways that surround our villages Lone mushroom springs up A serene pond dug to store water for cultivation These photos are taken by Master Abhyas, Son of my co-son-in-law.  నా తోడల్లుడి గారబ్బాయి అభ్యాస్ ఈ ఫోటోలని తీసాడు...

Remembering Father
