Sri Lakshmi Ganapati Swamy Temple - Bikavolu, known as the Bikkavolu Vinayaka Temple, is located in East Godavari, Andhra Pradesh, is a revered spiritual site dedicated to Lord Vinayaka (Ganesha), the remover of obstacles and the god of wisdom. This ancient temple is believed to have been established during the 9th or 10th century by the Eastern Chalukyas dynasty.

The temple is renowned for its unique idol of Lord Vinayaka, which is said to be self-manifested. According to legend, the idol was discovered by cowherds when their cow repeatedly bowed at a specific spot in the forest. This sacred site has since grown into a grand structure, attracting devotees from far and wide.

The temple offers a serene atmosphere, fostering a deep sense of devotion and peace. It is open daily from 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM, with specific darshan timings in the morning and evening. Visitors can also book their darshan online for a hassle-free experience.

The Bikkavolu Vinayaka Temple holds immense historical and cultural significance. It dates back to the Eastern Chalukya dynasty, between 849 AD and 892 AD, showcasing the architectural brilliance of thatera. The temple is dedicated to Lord Vinayaka (Ganesha), and its idol is unique for being self-manifested (Swayambhu). This monolithic statue, known as Vijayanand Ganapathi, is believed to grow slightly in size each year, adding to its mystical allure.

The temple served as a spiritual center for the Chalukya kings, who sought blessings before and afterbattles. Its historical importance is further highlighted by its intricate carvings and the enduring traditions that continue to attract devotees and history enthusiasts alike..

The Bikkavolu Vinayaka Temple is a fine example of ancient South Indian temple architecture, reflecting the craftsmanship of the Eastern Chalukya dynasty.

My Father - My Hero

My father, Veluvali Rama Lingeswara Sarma, studied B.A. in P.R. College, Kakinada in the later part of 1940s. Later he did B.Ed. He was interested to serve the young nation by becoming a part of the education system. Soon after the completion of his graduation, he got so many jobs. In those days, jobs were not tough to get. He got jobs in Revenue, Justice and Education departments. He chose education department as believed that providing good education was the immediate need then.  He taught in High Schools, Basic Training Schools and worked as an Inspector of Schools in several districts of Andhra Pradesh. His early years as a government servant were in Krishna and West Godavari districts. I born in Tanuku, when he was working there. Later he was transferred to Srikakulam district.
