LOVE MY FEET DAY Aug 17, 2024
National "I Love My Feet" Day is celebrated on August 17th each year to appreciate the role your feet play in your everyday life and to practice good foot care. Here are some ways to observe this day and to take care of your feet.
1. Check your feet
Check your feet daily for redness, swelling, cuts, blisters, abrasions, corns, or any other changes to the skin and nails.
2. Wear well-fitting shoes
Shoes that don't fit properly can cause blisters, corns, and calluses, and can also cause you to walk differently, which can put extra pressure on your ankles and knees.
3. Trim your nails
Trim your nails straight across the top and gently smooth the edges with a nail file.
4. Protect your feet
Wear flip-flops in moist areas such as locker rooms and public pools, and apply sunscreen to your feet with a broad-spectrum lotion or spray with an SPF of 30 or higher.
5. Keep your feet dry
Don't walk barefoot, and keep your feet dry.
6. Take care of your feet
Practice good hygiene by washing your feet daily and moisturizing. You can also engage in low-impact exercise and take rest days if you're an athlete.
7. Eat for strong feet
To keep your feet strong and safe from illnesses such as osteoporosis, ensure your diet contains plenty of calcium by eating dairy foods and dark, leafy greens.
